We operate in Old Newton Village Hall and have access to an outdoor area so Children can learn both in the indoors and outdoors learning environment. We are in the very fortunate position to be in a rural location surrounded by fields, woods and a play park. Staff ensure children have opportunities to access these facilities regularly allowing children to learn across the 7 areas of learning (for more information see the Tapestry section in the Parents Area ) within a variety of environments.
We use and implement the ‘In the moment’ planning system. This is where we use our knowledge of each individual child and build and extend their development while doing something the child is interested in. We are very much child led with a great routine, structure and boundaries.
We encourage the children to be as independent as possible, we are preparing them not only for school but for many other future experiences and the life skills they need to learn and thrive.

Our membership has grown and we have a hardball team as well as a Ladies Softball Cricket team.
One of our targets for 2026 is to build our Juniors section again so if you have a budding Harry Brooks, Ben Stokes, Tammy Beaumont or Sophie Ecclestone then get in touch.
We are keen to welcome new members of any ability and can offer a combination of League and Friendly Cricket as well as Midweek games and Charity tournaments.
Going forward we have plans at an early stage to build a Cricket Pavilion down by the square. This will provide us with 2 x Changing Rooms, Toilets, a kitchen / bar and a central area for Teas or Meetings. Although this is a big undertaking for a small Club, we have an enthusiastic membership and our vision is clear. Any support to help us achieve our goal would be appreciated , just get in touch.
For any queries regarding the Club you can contact the Chairman via e-mail at k.swinburne@talk21.com or call 077333 10240.
We post our results on Play Cricket at https://oldnewton.play-cricket.com/home

The Old Newton Carpet Bowls Club has been in existence for over forty years.
As the name suggests, the game is played indoors where bowls are rolled along a carpet towards a small ball known as a cot. The game is made more difficult by a large wooden disc which is positioned in the middle of the carpet so that bowls have to roll around it.
People of all ages play the game and the Club usually competes in league matches. New members are made to feel welcome because meetings are very sociable events with tea, coffee and biscuits served at half time.
The Club meets on Tuesday evenings at Old Newton Village Hall.

We are a small and friendly group and would love for new members to join. Each month we have a speaker or activity and have had some really informative, fun evenings. We recently were joined by some alpacas, had a great speaker from the East Anglia Air Ambulance and have made chocolate truffles and flower arrangements. We always have lots of laughs.
